چکیده
ABSTRACT No-till vegetable farming is a feasible alternative to reduce erosion-induced losses and increase soil nutrient availability, because cover crop residue protects the its decomposition promotes cycling, which can improve yield of subsequent crop. The present study assessed production crops agronomic performance broccoli grown on this using different nitrogen doses in no-till system. A randomized block design was used, split-split plot arrangement main plots (cover crops), sub-plots (N doses) sub-sub (decomposition times), with four repetitions. Seven were studied, as follows: [1) signal grass (SG); 2) sunn hemp (SH); 3) pearl millet (PM): 4) SG+SH; 5) SG+PM; 6) SH+PM 7) SG+SH+PM]; addition topdressing [T1) no N application (control); T2) 60 kg/ha N; T3) 90 T4) 120 N]; five times: zero (cutting), 15, 30, days after transplanting (DAT) seedlings. Cover dry weight (DW) production, decomposition, head fresh (HFW) (HDW) (YLD) assessed. Among crops, intercropped SG+SH treatment exhibited lowest DW and, along grass, shortest half-life (T½) highest rate. best-performing plants those PM, SH combination both crops. obtained residue, regardless topdressing, HFW 788 g/plant YLD 30 t/ha.

Residual Effects of No-Till Crop Residues on Corn Yield and Nitrogen Uptake
The residual effects of crop residues on N availability and crop growth are largely unknown. A field experiment was conducted from 1986 through 1988 at Lincoln, NE, to determine the residual effects on no-till corn (Zea mays L.) production and N uptake of 0,50, 100, and 1509'0 of the amount of crop residues produced by the previous crop during the previous 5 yr. These effects were evaluated wit...
متن کاملLong-term trends in nitrous oxide emissions, soil nitrogen, and crop yields of till and no-till cropping systems.
No-till cropping can increase soil C stocks and aggregation but patterns of long-term changes in N2O emissions, soil N availability, and crop yields still need to be resolved. We measured soil C accumulation, aggregation, soil water, N2O emissions, soil inorganic N, and crop yields in till and no-till corn-soybean-wheat rotations between 1989 and 2002 in southwestern Michigan and investigated w...
متن کاملCover crop root contributions to soil carbon in a no-till corn bioenergy cropping system
Crop residues are potential biofuel feedstocks, but residue removal may reduce soil carbon (C). The inclusion of a cover crop in a corn bioenergy system could provide additional biomass, mitigating the negative effects of residue removal by adding to stable soil C pools. In a no-till continuous corn bioenergy system in the northern US Corn Belt, we used CO2 pulse labeling to trace plant C from ...

A two-year experiment was conducted in the field to measure the combined impact of tilling and N fertilization on various agronomic traits related to nitrogen (N) use efficiency and to grain yield in maize cultivated in the presence of a cover crop. Four years after conversion to no-till, a significant increase in N use efficiency N harvest index, N remobilization and N remobilization efficienc...
